Icons next to bookmarks disappeared

On my list of bookmarks, there used to be icons representative of sites where the bookmarks went to - for ex. on this site the blue box with CF. These have disappeared. Wondering if this is a Windows issue or a browser issue. I'm using Firefox. XP Pro Sp3

Whatever it's supposed to do it isn't fixing what I'm talking about.

The icons next to the bookmarks are called favicons. If that didn't work then just redo the shortcuts.

Turn them off, shut down firefox, then turn them on, reload the page.
