IDE cable question

Hey guys, sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I couldnt really find a forum dedicated to this type of hardware

I have a new computer on its way in the mail right now, and I would like to use a few of the components from my old computer. I am getting a Sata HDD with my new computer but I would like to use my old HDD as a slave drive and my old DVD burner. Both of these items are IDE. My question is how to I jump both of these items and how do I hook them up.

Would I set my DVD burner as my master and then set my HDD up as the slave or vice versa? If I were to plug my HDD into the master plug on the IDE cable, do i keep it jumped as a slave drive so that my computer does not try to read it as my master HDD since I will have my Sata drive as my main HDD? This whole situation with using both IDE and Sata drives really has me confused.

There is only 1 IDE connector on my new Mobo, so 2 different cables really wouldn't work.

Many thanks in advance for all of your help!!

Set it up on the IDE cable either way. Just make sure that one is master and one is slave. As far as the boot order, just make sure the SATA drive is set as first in the boot order.
