IDE Controller issue

So for the past week it takes my PC about 5 minutes or more to fully boot. It hangs at the main boot screen that says "searching IDE controllers" it eventually finds them, but it takes FOREVER..............3 minutes or more sometimes. Then once it does get passed that portion it hangs at the Microsoft load bar for about a 2 minutes.

I checked everything for drive updates and all is fine, but in Device manager I did notice this:

IDECONTROLLER.jpg

What is this and how do I fix it? Could this be my load issues?

right click on it and go to properties and see what it says under "device status"

does the computer behave strangely once windows is loaded and under normal uperation?

Once Windows is loaded it runs fine, no errors to speak of. Under status I get the following

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

I have tried to update the drivers and nothing.

If it is a driver issue then you can delete the device in the device manager and reboot this will allow Windows to reinstall the driver. If it's a hardware issue then your looking at a mobo replacement.

What is the ide controller and what does it do?

NOTE: Ok so I uninstalled the Controller and restarted the system............which took about the same crazy amount of time to boot and now I have IDE Controller A03LGFFN and the same exclamation mark. I tried to update the drivers and its still the same issue..........could it be an OS issue?

The IDE controller is an interface between the hard drive (s) and the mainboard. It is likely that replacing the driver will help. Give it shot. If it doesn't then you either live with it or get a new mainboard. If you get a new mainboard be sure you get a modern one with SATA. It will still have an IDE interface for your current drive but it will allow you to upgrade to SATA for your next drive.

This board is Sata, all my HD's are Sata

Oh, the title of your post lead me to believe otherwise. You might be using the IDE controller for an optical drive. At any rate, you can ignore the IDE controller in your Windows device manager for purposes of hard drive booting. You aren't using it for that. Start with new mainboard drivers. Next would be a BIOS flash, next would be a new mainboard I suppose. You might have a bad SATA cable. That's easy enough to check. I would put my money on the mainboard drivers.
