IDE links

So i just upgraded for the first time in many many years... so the problem i run into is all my stuff is IDE. So i was wondering if I could connect both a hardrive and a DVD combo drive using the same ide cord.

That's easy to do. You simply set the jumper on the hard drive to master if it will be the OS drive at the end of the cable and set the optical drive as slave on the middle connector. If the board see two ide channels the dvd combo can also be mastered on a second cable plugged into the secondary channel.
