IDE vs SATA DVD Burner

It will support either. Has one IDE port and 6 SATA. IDE vs. SATA burner, ones not any faster then the other. But Sata has smaller cables, looks better/better case air flow/more updated. IDE is probable soon to be going out. Most boards only have one IDE port and some dont have any already.

All things being equal - I'd go with the SATA - simply b/c it's more current cables - and IDE seem to be more of a legacy cable.

But in terms of functionality - it makes no difference for a CD / DVD burner drive. I accidentally purchased an IDE DVD burner when I was purchasing parts for my PC. Was mad at myself - until I realized it made no difference when all was said and done. Both play movies - and burn and store DVD-R - and CD-R just fine.

Since you have 6 SATA - and 1 IDE - I'd go with SATA - and if you ever need to pull in an old drive for some reason - you still have an open IDE slot.

Optical drives arent fast enough to even use up an ide channel, let alone sata. But as stated earlier, the airflow and cabling provide the main advantages, as well as ide fast becoming a legacy device.
