Ideas for Laptop

I have a 24 yr old nephew who is in the Coast Guard and is about to start taking college courses on-line. He needs a new laptop, and does not have a lot of money. Am looking for suggestions. I am trying to keep him from spending money at the box stores.

Any ideas?
 
What kind of budget?

Is "not alot of money" a $100 used laptop, or $1000 new laptop? or anywhere in between?
 
Don't know. Looking for advice from other members. Other than using it for school, he will be using it for Facebook and lots of pictures.
 
Best I would say is go for a Dell Inspiron 15R Should get the job done and is a little below your budget. It is perfect for everything that he needs! Let me know if there any any complications!
 
Tell him to check out his local bestbuy in the discontinued area, basically models they are trying to get rid of. I bought a sony vaio there for about that price and it did very well during my last deployment in the navy.

I have very good experiences with asus computers.
I also have Dell computers which are also good.
