IE 6/7 uninstall?

Yesterday I tried to install IE7 Beta 2 on my system, but because I had Beta 1 of it already installed it wouldn't work. I had to go through this whole hack process provided by Windows to uninstall it using the registry and whatnot... it was a messy situation. I then started to install IE7 Beta 2 and got an error, that windows does know about and helps you in their knowledge base... but that didn't work so I abandoned IE7 and switched to Firefox. Now, I want to completely remove IE from my system. IE7 is gone I believe, other than the Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 update that exists under the Windows XP Software updates, but IE6 remains. I notice it when I try to do Windows Updates and whatnot. It doesn't appear to be in the Add/Remove Programs menu. Is there anyway to get rid of IE? This has become a matter of principle... help me rid myself of it!

U can remove ie using add or remove components on the control panel. Keep in mind since u have xp and when u uninstall ie there are other sharing files that will also be delete. But to get it back use ur xp cd to reinstall ie and all accessories. The best bet is don't use IE but use firefox or opera and make them be ur default browser. Also I just remember windows update need ie to check ur computer for updates.
When u use anysoftware with the word BETA read their instruction on how to uninstall and installed before u use the program.
I hope this infor is some use to u.

I've never dealt with a program that was more annoying to uninstall... and it was a MSFT program nonetheless. They went as far as to provide a detailed way around the error, I guess they assumed that it was get an error on everyone's system.

I had the same problem. I had to use System Restore.

There's no way to "get rid" of IE, anymore. It's integrated too much with everything M$ in Windows.

Duane's right. If you look in Add/Remove Windows Components, you'll see that all you can do is remove the shortcut and access to IE, not the program itself. There was a program called IEradicator but it will not work with XP.
