I noticed that my tabs (tabbed browsing) for my IE7 is not working. Even though it's enabled in internet properties it's still not there.I go to -->file-->New tab is not available (its gray) but new window is available.

what is causing this ?..i've tried restarting a few times but it doesn't apply to my tabs.!!

There's a catch to the tab browsing in IE 7. When you are already on a page and open a link for a product upgrade instead of seeing a second IE window appear as with all earlier versions a second tab will then appear. You can go back and forth between where you were and the new site that just opened without switching to a second IE window opened for that purpose. You can also click on the "X" in the corner to close out the second site visited.

PC eye i cant understand what u said..tabbed browsing is not available for me !!!...i dunno why !...it should be available

ok so i re-installed it but still " New tab" option is gray. Not available..if this remains like this guess i'll have to continue with firefox

i dunno if this'll help, but try it anyway...

in IE, select 'internet options' from the 'tools' menu.
under the 'general' tab, theres a section for 'Tabs', click on the settings button, then check "Enable Tabbed Browsing".

does that mean you still have to open a new window to open a new page??

(youre saying that it only opens a new tab when you hit a hyperlink :S)

There's no catch. More misdirection. When you click on the tab button, it should open, no problems. When you click on a hyperlink it will open in a new window unless you right click on it and tell it to open in a new tab. The option should not be greyed out.

Something else is wrong. Try a search on Microsoft's website for the answer.

When you have IE 7 Already opened to a page and click on a html file or a product link seen with WMP or some other product that goes direct to the manufacturer a second page immediately replaces the first. That's when a second tab appears next to the default tab. IE 7 has tabbed browsing set as default while only seen as an option in IE 6 and the earlier versions.

You seem to be the only one misdirected. When you click on a link seen stored on the drive or click on the media page in WMP or something similar the first window remains and only sees the new page replace the first.

I suppose you wouldn't know how to read the information seen at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx#ie7tabs that explains the new tab browsing feature with viewing multiple pages will only having one window open. It goes under the title of "Doing more by doing less".

hey i sorted it out..there was that xml setup thingy in the same folder that i didn't notice.I ran it and restarted..it's ok
