IE7 won't install

I am at the end of my rope here. I have downloaded the IE7 installation file multiple times, installed it, restarted, only to find nothing had changed. Nothing new in the folder, no new icons, nothing. Like nothing happened.

I have a screwed up internet explorer folder when IE5 or something was out, but now I neeed 7 for something on the microsoft website.

I could also use 6, but I can't find the link for that.

Can anyone suggest what to do next?

To find IE 6 is easy enough. When you first arrive at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/default.mspx you look under the "technologies" section found in the column on the left hand side and click on the "Internet Explorer" link there to go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx

From there just scroll down to the IE 6 link to bring you to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/default.mspx and then choose the "Get IE 6 SP1" link under the Internet Explorer 6 heading to bring you to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx

Under the "download IE 6 SP1" header click on the link for the download center to bring you to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&DisplayLang=en

Now to see IE 7 install correctly you would first have to download a copy directly to the drive and first proceed to the "control panel>add/remove programs>add/remove Windows components" section to uncheck any IE items found there. This will completely remove IE 5, 6, 7. Once that is done you start the installer for IE 7 or IE 6 if you still see problems with IE 7. You will have to use the IE setup wizard after to connect online again.

Well it says I can't install IE6 because a newer version was already installed. But I looked a bit more through the add&remove programs list and saw the IE7 wasn't under internet explorer-but under windows internet explorer. So it did install. But now I'm trying again.

You first want to see it totally removed. You can't go back to IE 6 with anything from IE 7 lingering since that is an upgrade IE 6. Make sure you look in the add/remove Windows components section there as well. That will be a button found in column on the left side of the screen there.

That method had to be used here to see a fresh install of IE 7 here with the finished version as well as removing the beta to get IE 6 back on. The same goes with any other updated MS items where you have to totally remove the newer to get the older to go on again.

If you'd care to read the first post, you'd notice that I only need to use it for something on microsoft's site. Then you could stop making such a jackass of yourself.

Or you can use FireFox. It's much much much better

Ahahahahahahhahahahahahaha

What do you have to show that FireFox is sooooo much better then IE? With the exception of adwares and a few spybots... IE isn't stuck with Google tool bars and limited on online multimedia playback geared for IE and Netscape.

Sorry I won't touch that one. :P

They are nice.. Just don't act like an idiot and you'll do just fine. I really quite like the people here.

^^Seconded.

I just can't stand when people act stupid. But I'll forget this happened sooner or later and you'll be A-Ok in my book.

If you're going to let one person scare you away from the forums, thats your own problem. But hopefully you'll realize that what I said really is true. You can't go saying "x is better because I said so AHAHAHAHA...".

Gee IE 7's "Anti-Phising" filter wouldn't even allow connecting to the site there! "Note: You must use Internet Explorer 6 or higher to view the Webcasts." was seen on the video selection page.
