Hi,

I have recently bought a new JVC GC MG 505 digital camcorder. My only problem is that it does not have a firewire port and i need to transfer video live on to my laptop. It has an AV port. Is there a way i can get video from this on to my laptop in real time in the same way a firewire cable does? I have a firewire port on my laptop so maybe there is some sort of scart to firewire adapter out there? As you can probably tell, i dont have the greatest of knowledge when it comes to this sort of thing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Which type of "AV" port do you have? Is it RCA, S-Video or something else entirely?

most likley its a small port that uses a video cable to go out to a composite (or in the event of a HD camera componet) connection with l+r audio and video

thats how most cameras are today just to save room

but then again it could be an s-video

It has an S-video output. Is there an adapter of some sort to go into my computer?
