if i plug in my 2nd lcd monitor and turn on my ocmputer will it be 2 seperate screens or one big long screen? is their additional software needed to do this

since your card supports dual head display, it is included in the driver. When I plug mine in, it just doesn't recognize it until I go into the display properties and tell it to extend the desktop to the second monitor. There you can also have it extend or clone.

You have an ATi card so ATi HYDRAVISION is the software that allows more adevanced options for dual-screen setups. Starting off, it should be in clone mode where one screen copies another. You can go into display properties to span the displays so it can act like 2 seperate desktops with thier own resolution and icons. HYDRAVISION allows more tweaking on this part. You can span them like I said and you can also make them act like one huge widescreen display with one widened resolution and other things. Try it out! :)

since you have an ATI card, you can go to the ATI Catalyst Control Center, and there is a section for dual monitors, you can set it up for mirrored, split, and some others.

don't worry I had a 17" LCD and a 15" CRT dual-screened one time and that was really dumb looking but the CRT got to a higher resolution which suited my needs.

what is really cool is one of those setups that are two individual monitors that are "fused" together to look like one huge widescreen display.
