Darren Moderator Staff member Apr 5, 2018 #2 Motherboard might give you a notice that it detects a new CPU but Windows itself won't say or do anything differently. This is of course assuming you're installing a CPU compatible with your current motherboard.

beers Moderator Staff member Apr 7, 2018 #4 What CPU do you have currently and what CPU are you upgrading to? Just be careful around the socket if it's LGA (pins in the socket), they're easy to bend and damage the motherboard.
