ok well if you have amd 3700 with a non stock fan plz
post which fan you have...
I ordered hyper 48 and it was hell to install...

im going to place an order soon on newegg or tigerdirect an
im not to sure of what kind of a fan I need/want..

btw..plz dont post a fan thats going to be hell to install...
thanks..
thanks.......

a lot of non stock fans are a pain to install. it usually involves removing the backplate and heatsink mount. some fans i've used are real fiddly to install, one that comes to mind is the asus star ice, wonderful to look at but a real bugger to install.
my current heatsink and fan didn't need any modifications to the motherboard to be installed, nice and simple with good cooling :)

which one do you have??

also...my mobo is an8-sli and it has a back plate on the ..back side of the mobo

so I wont need to take the whole mobo out right?

All im looking for in a fan is low noise and high performance...
doesent have to be the best looking fan out there just need to be good...

thanks......

yeah so I was hopping to place the order by tomorrow so I might get it here by fridays so If any1 can plz show me a nice fan/heatsink for 939 amd 3700+ that is not to hard to install PLz post...

oh Also If they sell nice ones at a local store..Ie best buy, circuit city, microcenter...etc..etc.. that would be great because i wont have to shipp it back and go through that whole thing....

well....I think I might just order my guru panel today and look around the city for a store that sells good cpu fans....I wanna Oc already LOl.....

The only heatsink that i've come across that doesn't require you to take the motherboard etc is the processor that i have. i would say that there are others but this is the only one that i've seen

How is this one? it says it goes up to amd athlon 4000+
it looks easy to install because it only comes with like 2 clamps...

Also If I oc my cpu will this be fine?
because I dont wanna go crazy with the Oc just a little more...
say....2.2 ghz?

it is big but it just about fills the space inside the heatsink bracket, the brackets are the same too so thats not a problem. you should be fine with overclocking with it. i overclocked my sempron using this heatsink with extra voltage at 2.4 ghz and the temps were 55 degrees under load.

when you say "this one" do you mean the one i mentioned or did you forget the link?

*edit* there's a back plate bracket for speed control so the floppy drive spaces are not a problem

wow, thats an impressive fan. i would go for that. mixed reviews though but i wouldn't like to say whether you need to mod the board or not

....so does that mean you dont know if I need to mod my mobo for that???

because i looked places around the city and i couldent find any cpu fans that fit my socket...

so I think this is my best bet...

...also I will be able to Oc my cpu a little with this yes??

thanks.......

i couldn't tell if you need to mod your motherboard because they didn't list (or i didn't see) the parts required for mounting it onto a skt 939 board.
i would definately say that you could overclock with that heatsink and fan

ok thanks alot...im going to place the order today from tigerdirect and hopefully ill get it in 2-3 days... (they are also in Illinoise) so thats a good thing ...

well If anything goes wrong ill just RmA it ....

thanks...........

Edit:
Also....I see that maximum supported cpu is amd athlon 64 4000+...
that means I can O.s my cpu as much as I want right?
(well untill it explodes LOl)
but im not going to,

anyways..I was just wondering how much should I oc my cpu?
