If you have AVG Internet Security, update it.

I updated my AVG today, and it prompted me to restart, which it usually doesn't do. Once i did, I noticed on startup there was ~100mb less RAM being used by the system, and my boot time went down a couple of seconds.

I guess it had some memory leaks or they optimised it. Either way it's good for us AVG users :)

I downloaded the new suite last week and to me it's the opposite
Once up and running it's fine but on bootup it takes so much longer for the tray icon to become initialized and allow networking.
Perhaps it's just XP and when I install W7 it will improve but right now it's crap. My licence runs out next June so will have to live with it for now.

I mean there was an update released today and it dropped usage.

Does yours update by itself?

Also, perhaps they just optimised it for vista. I'm also going to Windows 7 :)

I'm at work right now so haven't updated yet. I thought you were talking of the update from v8 to v9 which happened a few weeks ago. Perhaps this latest update is to put right the problem I have. :good:

I don't like the V9 personally. the icons are lifeless and you can't exit the tray icon without task manager. there is no "exit" option anymore.
