Illegal Sumout?

I'm attempting to overclock my FX 8320 and I'm at 4.4 GHz right now on automatic voltage with the system in my sig.

Prime95 is saying that Workers 1-4 are running and 5-8 aren't running. They say illegal sumout error and possible hardware failure. Am I just getting too much for my voltage and time to bump it up? Normally I just get a blue screen if I'm pushing too much for the voltage.

I'd probably bump the voltage up a tad and see if that improves. Sounds like the clock speed is higher than it can handle on that voltage.

I've bumped the voltage to 1.45 and it's still doing it, but not as much. Going to bump a bit higher. Haven't broken 50 degrees yet so I'm good temperature wise.

Do I have any dangers of damaging my board as long as my temperatures are in check?

Okay. Well. I had a mishap. I didn't change anything but turned off cool and quiet. Had voltage at 1.48 and clocks at 4.4, so nothing different. Started prime and it said preparing self test for your hardware or something like that. CPU-Z has my clocks drop to 1.4 GHz. HW Monitor says my temp is at 205 degrees Celsius. Hit reset switch crazy quick after seeing that. Turned back on at 4.3 and lower voltage. Temp monitors aren't showing up in HWMonitor now.

Hmm. Of note, the voltage I was at 1.48, was the highest on my board.

Edit: Got my temps to read again. At 4.3 and 1.45 I was doing Prime and after a few minutes my temperatures skyrocketed. As in CoreTemp sees 255 and HWMonitor is at 205. I stopped Prime and it still says that for both. Obviously that's not the case since my computer is still on and not melting... Cool air out of my exhaust fans too. This also happened when my CPU dropped to 1.4GHz according to CoreTemp. My motherboard is confused.

In all honesty you need a better board to get a high stable overclock. That MSI only has a 3+2 power phase. With a overclocked 8 core those Chokes and Mosfets are probably having a hard time. Most old 8120 would clock better. Pretty sure its your board, not the CPU. Most 8320 I've had could hit 4.5/4.6 pretty easy.
