I'm building a new pc... compatible?

I've studied pretty closely at the specs of the parts I'd like to order, but I'm always wary of PSU's since I've underestimated a couple in the past and they've burnt out on me.

I do a lot of video editing and gaming so I need a decent rig for this.

My budget is $1,000 tops for the whole rig... no more {period}.

Here is the system so far. This does not include OS, external devices or monitor yet. I just want to make sure my internal hardware is all pretty much compatible first before looking for the rest.

Processor
Mobo
Tower
RAM
H.d.d.: 2 of them, same capacity.
CDR
DVDR: yes I like separate CD/DVD
Video Card
PSU

Also, I was thinking of going with WinXP... how does Vista run now? When it was first introduced I heard it had a lot of bugs so I haven't tried it yet. Is it worth getting now or just waiting for Win7?

Thanks everyone for your help... I have a couple weeks before I purchase so recommendations are great... just as long as it's within my budget.

why are you going to buy a 200 dollar crossfire motherbored then a geforce 9500???

if you want that graphics card go for like a 70 dollar bored

I'm unsure which mobo to purchase. I need firewire but hardly any of the $70 boards have it...

wait, I was also looking at this board

CPU: CPU is fine.

PSU: Your PSU is fine.
Case: Its fine, if that is what you want.
DVD/CD: Fine:)

The 9500GT, is not a very good card for gaming, if you want to play games on high detail, and @ res. around 1440/900 you just get a more powerful card, the 4830, is a powerful card, and can play just about anything on the market on high, and still have it playable. About the power of a 8800GT, give or take.

BTW: Crossfire is for ATI, not nvidia, so if you got that mobo, you wouldn't be able to go crossfire.

Muskin ram, great ram, those things are easily overclocked, my friend got his to 900mhz, with 4-4-4-12 timings, and i am sure that he could push it further(slight voltage changes)

I like everyone's suggestions.

I'm not going to be oc'ing the system so I'm not worried about acheiving that. Also, I most prefer a Nvidia vid card. Nothing against ATI, just that 2 of the programs I use daily recommend Nvidia over ATI. They are 3d Studio Max and Second Life.

But if you guys can recommend a ATI Radeon that will plow through those programs like nothing, I'm willing to change.
