Right i dont know too much about processors but i have a 5 year old pc with a 1.3 intel 4 processor. Ive seen a AMD - SEMPRON 3000+ AM2 PROCESSOR which is at 1.6GHZ, shurly its not that slow or have they changed. Could someone explain how the speed compares etc

thanks

the GHzage of a CPU doesnt really matter anymore. That Sempron is probably many times faster than your P4, becuase of it being a modern AMD VS. an old Intel, and other factors. You just got lucky and saw one of the slowest CPUs on the market today, most are much faster in GHzage. Look on newegg.com and research CPUs, you will find many faster.

When comparing net speed of 2 or more different CPU's, it basicly doesnt mean anything, a Core 2 Duo at 1.86 GHz will blow the hell out of a Pentuim 1.3 GHz and Sempron at 1.6 GHz together.

AM2 Sempron 3000+ IS that slow in terms of GHz, but it's not bad, it's like a whole lot better than that 1.3 GHz Pentium, in everything.

the sempron performs about 3ghz worth of celeron processing with only 1.6ghz worth of power.
mhz and ghz don't really measure how much a processor does... since there are different types of processors speeds since there are different types of processes that they're able to complete.
and athlon 64 at around 2ghz performs around that of a pentium 4 at 3.2ghz. its not slow. lol

AMD aim for lower clock speeds with the same amount of power as a high clock speed, so the Sempron should be better than the intel p4

Is GHzage even a word?
