Hi guys, I'm going to be buying a GPU soon, and I'm torn between the Nvidia 660 TI and the Radeon 7950, they are both at the same price (300$) right now.

I've been reading around, and I'm leading towards the 7950 because of the 384-bit memory bus and the 3gb of VRam, I've heard that the 660 TI can be crippled while scaling.

Just looking for opinions, please leave fanboy remarks out of this, I'm going to get whatever works.

Thanks for any help!

The radeon is faster by around ~6-7% on resolutions <;= 1080p.
In higher resolutions the radeon can get almost 15% better performance.

Thanks for the advice guys! One question on top of that.

Should I just get the 7870 or spend the extra 40 for the 7950? I was reading around and some claim that the 7870 seems like the best buy for the price, but the 3gb and 384-bit bus on the 7950 would prove to be great for the future.

Also, how reliable are Sapphire cards? I had a 6850 from Sapphire with no issues but I want a reliable card for the long run. I AM NOT going to be O/C'ing any card I get.

Thanks!

The 7870 is good for the price, but spending the extra $40 for the 7950 will help in the long run.

In my opinion, Sapphire cards are extremely reliable. Not once have I ever had a problem with one and I've also never heard of anyone else having any problems either.

Okay, thanks!

What about the 7850 vs 7870?? Thanks!

What is your budget, there isn't a big difference between 7850 and 7870, 7850 can run the latest games. If your budget is around 300 then 7950 is the best option if you want to cfx in the future.

The difference in price is smaller then the difference in performance. Would get the hd7870 since it's 17% faster. Also the difference between the hd7950 and the hd7870 is 11%.
But the hd7870 will do good for the next 4 years I think. If you play on higher resolutions (like >1080p). The hd7950 is the way to go.
