I have a DELL Demension 2350 with Win XP Home on it. The computer is infected with spyware and the registry has been messed up. I am considering reformating and reloading the software. I don't have a STARTUP disk for WIN XP. How do I make an uninfected STARTUP disk and will that be enough to get me started after the reformat of the hard drive?

Also I need someting to get the installed CDR working after the reformat.

Or should I try to uninfect the current install?

Look for a boot disk download for 98SE
there are a lot of sites out there, with disks for anything you need, just google "Windows 98 Boot Disk" and find a link you like
 
You'd likely be better off performing a format and reinstall.

There is no software firewall for Win 98 that I am aware of.

I meant to say a STARTUP disk for WIN XP not 98.

Also I just edited my original post with a reques tfor info on how to make sure my CDR will work after the reformat. Will the STARTUP disk have the CD driver on it?
