I have a ivy bridge mother board laying around, is a 3770k a good cpu for it? and is $190 a good price for one?

Yeah it's the best CPU you can get for Socket 1155 actually.

What are you going to use the PC for? An i5 3570K or an i3 3220 may be all you really need.

For gaming at least, the i5 3570K was all you needed, but for editing and rendering the 3770K was a better option.
