Watcha all,i'm new and i would some advice from you good people if thats ok.
I know nothing about computers i only use it for playing games and chating on forums.
Looking for advice on how to shut down unnecessary start up programes.
Also what programes to shut down,i'm running Vista Home Premium.
Do you need to know what computer i'v got,cheers.

OK, well with your problem.

Go start > type in run then hit enter > type in "msconfig" (no " ") > and disable all the unneed start up programs.

No offence but what you have put is gobbly guck to me.
I know nothing about computers,what programs do i get rid off and what are these > used for.:confused:

OK, do the following and might be able to tell you what to disable:

Click Here to download HJTsetup.exe


* Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
* Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
* Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
* Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
* Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
* At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
* Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
* Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.

lol, it just takes time, if you follow the instructions on the link and do the hijackthis then we can help you and you might thanks us afterwards ;)

And your computer could run a lot better if you do it which would an added bonus :P
