Hello, i have a delima, i am not the server admin and i need admin privilages to install the latest flash player. I cant even load up our home page without it telling me i need the latest flashplayer.Booting up in safe mood is not an option i already tried it and it does not work to get around the whole admin thing. sorry if this is moronic question i am not experienced with servers and such. any and all help is much apperciated.

are you talking about vista? You need to right click and choose run as admin on those programs.

If this is a manged computer at work or at school you need to talk to the help desk and send in a request to the admin to address your issues.

we have 1 it tech to manage like 10 stores. he does all of it himself, and he does not have the time to do litle stuff like that usually.

and i am sorry i didnt mention the operation system its windows xp perfessional edition.

Maybe I am misunderstanding the issue...but servers are locked for a reason. A person could do a lot of damage if they don't know what they are doing in a server. They could literally crash the entire company's network and cause tens of thousands in lost revenue...and that just one scenario that could go wrong  Not to mention the data they could steal:cool:

That's actually a crime to "hack" into something that you are not permitted to enter.

You need to contact your manager and report that. Then a proper "admin" person can come and update the server. I am not trying to send a bad tone but...I don't think "you" updating the server is a good idea. You might have good intentions but the risks are huge;)

That type of stuff could get you fired, so it is not worth it. Call your help desk and put in a request. If it is server side configurations that traveling tech probably doesn't fuss with it, there is probably a server admin that does all that server side and can flip a switch so to speak if it is permitted.

I think he means computer side, that he needs flash player to view his workplaces homepage. Might not be understanding him correctly though...

That is why in my first post I asked if it was vista, but if there is a group policy from an AD server his log in may not have the rights to install software on the client machine locally, which would require an admin to do.

If they run SMS those things can be pushed out from the server side. It all depends on how it is managed and typically there is some sort of policy that management decides (not the server admin) on how company technology is to be used.
