 I just built a new PC. I took a video card from one of my other PC's (gforce MX 4000) on the original system I had that card 512 ram and an AMD 64 2ghz processor. In te new system I'm using same ram but a P4 3ghz processor yet when running programs that ran on the original machine fine I now experience horrible lag. (example: Dark Age of Camelot) I have tried everything i could think of. I put in two different network card / ran straight cat5 cable to the mother board. I've add another gig of ram ( totaling 1.5 gig) I've reformatted and re installed windows. I've checked all my lastest drivers. Adjusted frame rate and resolution. Nothing seems to make any difference. The only thinkg i Could think of was the fact that the mother board i'm using is ATI Radieons new mother board with the built in video card and ATI drivers. Now i have removed these and in stalled the gforce card but doesnt make any difference. Basically I'm stumped and out of ideas any suggestions as to what it might be?

for one thing you got a worse cpu now than u use to have. just cause the p4 is 3.0ghzdoesnt mean its faster. AMD and ATHLON's have different timings. Although this prolly isnt what is making you lag...

I think it's because of your processor, it isn't as good as the AMD one. Your video card is old too. these are the main problems i can think of.

I have to agree with lowcar100 and jflo. I just built a budget Celeron D340 2.93ghz using the same HD, sound and video cards, by tomshardware site this should have been a good setup, my Athlon XP2200 ran Bloodlines smoother than this one, a motherboard drivers upgrade helped a bit.... I fortuneately only have 2 games left to play on the pc, I will never stray away from AMD in the future and if I didn't submit a bunch of rebates for this, it would go back. Applications however, open much faster and multitasking is improved. Big deal. Contact one of the game supports, I was sent a link to drivers I didn't find which is odd since I used MSI's tool to check my drivers. Oh, what you gonna do with your AMD 2 gighz cpu and board? ;-)
