Immediate Attention Please!

From the information I got on this one forwarded here this comes in as a usual type of spam with the invitation seen on the subject line. Often an infected machine will be spreading it through the email contacts stored there.
One way to insure no contacts of yours are infected in the event your machine falls into this is to keep all contacts in writting and clear the address book in Outlook or Outlook Express to prevent the spread. Hopefully you simple press the delete button to get rid of it if you see it come in.

The usual antivirus programs will not prevent an infection from this or other similar variations that appear as attachments on incoming mail. This new goes right after the hidden information stored like the master boot record, partition information, and anything protected there by Windows. AVG and other email scanners may or may not flag an email with this attached. This is why a strong warning has to be put on this one. Usually when a program flags a bug infested email you can simply delete it right away to avoid infection. If you click on it to see what it is "say goodbye" to all data on your drive!

It could be and then it may not be. The alert seen above just came in from a concerned source. I've run across a few hoaxes as well as I-Worms that can really sent you into agony if you open the wrong thing. As a rule any "unknowns" seen in the inbox are automatically put on the block sender list immediately to prevent infections especially those with files attached. That's how the majority of these virus types act like trojans appearing as valid mail from a valid source. Hoax or not be onguard there. It's always better to be on the safe side then...   !!!

Over a year ago an earlier version of AVG Free edition highlighted one odd email that just happened to have an I-Worm: Bagle A wrapped into it. So I let it run the pace where fortunately AVG could point out what files were infected while not being able to remove or even quaranteen them. If you were unfamiliar with overwriting system files infected that Windows installation and everything probably would have been wiped clean when the drive was reformatted. Fortunately here I simply overwrote the one system file infected and deleted another file saved to the drive from an appplication.
That was only a mild I-Worm there. Others will trash your drive!

i got an e-mail talking about this virus (From Radio-Canada) i was thinking of posting about it, but did not feel to translate :P
darn viruses are so much a pain!

A close friend I've known for over 20yrs. forwarded the warning on this latest one whether hoax or not. The one thing to remember is that these newer ones are tougher due to the way they are written to get around firewalls, antivirus, antispyware-adware removers in order to raise havoc on your system. The average user generally doesn't have the protections inplace that the corporate world sees while they still get hit with these at times too.
