important question re XP Service Pack 3 ... quick reply really appreciated!

I downloaded SP 3 on my pC and all went well. I am currently in the process of downloading SP 3 on my wife's PC. I have closed all running programs including AV and Firewall software. Approx 60% completed (according to the progress bar), it appears as though the download is frozen because the progress bar has not moved for approx. 1 hour.

Is that normal or has something gone wrong and, if so, what do you recommend?

Make sure the HDD didn't ran out of space. Also, if you copied SP3 on an optical disk, the disk may have scratches.

if by HDD you mean "C" drive, then she has plenty of room. No, it is not from an optical disk, it is a download from Microsoft. The progress bar has still not moved from about 60% completed.

When you say downloaded, do you mean through update or here.

O meant download from Microsoft Update. Is it best to download from the link you provided?
