Importing large photos onto Adobe Illustrator CS

I have an 82 mb .jpeg file that i'm trying to import into my Adobe Illustrator program. Every time, it tells me that I have insufficient memory on my 1 gb RAM system. What should I do?

Try closing un-needed background programs or running the application on a different memory bank to the other programs. Assuming that your 1gig of RAM is installed by using 2 seperate 512meg banks, then go into 'Task Manger,' by pressing ctrl, alt and delete, then click on the processes tab. Right-click on the process name and then set afinity.

I have never actually used this but I hear that this is what it does.
