I got a new power supply... ended up with a Fractal Design 800W (NOT MODULAR T_T)... ok so PSU Works....

Given that paperclip has not failed me, now the motherboard won't react.... I have both the 24pin and 8pin(CPU) connected right now, but as soon as I hit the on button, nothing works.... any suggestions guys??????????

Sorry... I figured it out.

I didn't know using 9 standoffs mattered... I didn't even use them, and used 8 screws -_-

Interesting. It shouldn't matter if you used 6-7-8 standoffs but you've just proved that it did. Got me thinking they're needed for grounding and grounding not completed unless you use 9.

EDIT: wait a minute. You mean you didn't use the standoffs and just screws?

Yes, didn't use the standoffs at all lol

motherboard grounds thru some of the standoffs, I had the same problem ten or so years ago, I had used plastic standoffs, and it wouldn't power up, took me a while to figure that out.

That's interesting as I figured that most board will get their grounds from the black wires in the power plug. Seems that some boards have open grounds and not completed til the metal standoffs are used. I wonder that applies to the cheapies.

That's got me wondering now about some of my old mobos that didn't seem to work. Will have to go retry them. Thanks for the info.

Like I said, interesting. I never had this problem because on all the builds I did I used all the standoffs the boards takes and all metal at that.

This is nonsense. You can use a motherboard on a plastic / plexi (non metal case) and it will work just fine.

No, metal standoffs are not a necessity. You need them for a space between the case plate and the back of the board. Back in the day most were plastic/vinyl. I guess they might add some extra grounding. But the board is grounded through the power connectors.
