Hi everyone,
Im looking to buy a new pc.
Ive been looking around on ebay, dell and other various site's but i cant come to a conclusion what to buy. In which case i need some help.
My budget is around £600 maybe i could go up to around £750 if it made more of a difference.
I want to use my pc for gaming. To be more exact to run flight simulator x without no problems.
I dont think im confident enough yet to build my own pc.
Just looking for some advice of some good websites i could use and anything else which could be of help.
Just another thing...Is my budget to low to get a good gaming pc?
Thanks
James

If your buying from elsewhere, yes, your not exactly gonna get the best at all in that price range... A self-build however at that budget would fair very nicely indeed.

I know you said you don't think you have the confidence yet, which is fine, but what exactly is putting you off...? It most definitely is NOT a hard thing to do at all, and besides you have us lot at the other end of a forum to help you through it..

To finding PC component, I usually start with ebuyer.
Did your 500 pounds need to include monitors?
If yes, your buget is a bit tight.

By the way, I usually buy component in ebuyer.
Or you could compare price in pricegrapper or kelkoo to see the best deal.

And in my opinon,
I am prepare to build a base unit as follow:

Core 2 Duo E6300 £119
Gigabyte GA 965P-DS4 £98
Corsair (VS2GBKIT667D2) 2 x 1 GB DDR2 667 MHz 2x128Mx64non-ECC 2x240 DIMM Unbuffered CL5 £135
Seagate ST3250620AS 250GB SATAII/300 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM £52
NEC AD-5170A-0B 18xDVD±RW DL Black - Bare Drive £16.39 £20
XFX 7900GS 480M DDR3 dual DVI TVO XT edition PCI-E £119
Case £15 (price vary from brands)
500W - 600W PSU £50 (price vary from brands)
Microsoft OEM Windows Vista Home Basic x32Bit (DVD) £53

Then you add all the others software + cables....
It comes up around £650

By the way, I haven't run flight simulator before, I don't know whare requirement it needs

i dont rly need a monitor, speakers, keyboard or mouse.

ill probley buy a better monitor later on.

Thanks for the advice so far

Try:

http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/

Their top Intel machine should be within your budget and it has SLi as standard!

Also, my PC sans Windows was £650-ish.

I think the top spec. intel machine is a lot more expensive than building ourselves.
And I saw some testing in websites that we would need 2 GB ram to run window vista smooth,
And in my opinion, for a gamming machine we are look at a graphic card of at lease Nivida 7900 GS or ATi X1950 Pro.

And here is a website compare the proformance of different hardware.
http://tomshardware.co.uk/index.html
you may find it useful

the highest intel on that eclipsecomputers site is also only a pentium D, with £600 you should be able to put together a core2duo system which would be far and away the better choice

if you were in the US on newegg it would be sick for that price, but in the UK you can still get a great computer.

and i HAVE played FSX medium-high. I have 2GB RAM DDR2-800, XFX 7900GS, and a X2 3800+. So the C2D should eat the game up, but you need 2GB of RAM and at least a 7900GS.

I got the computer in my sig for 481 pounds for a comparison from newegg and that was every single part in the tower and it runs great.
