Inbuilt Thermal Pad OR Paste?

Guyz,

Recently the Company Attached(intel) Thermal Pad had been Melted-Out.

As the Processor still under warrenty, I can get an Replacement Heatsink from the Intel.

Now, I wana know should I get an Replacement ? OR apply Arctic silver 5 on the heatsink ?

I am an Hardcore Gamer Running games like Half-Life 2, Doom 3 etc…
I do not mind Warrenty been void,if I use Third-party Thermals.

Kindly,help in chosing the best….

Processor: 3.0HT
Motherboard: Intel 865GBF
 
If you have the option of arctic silver you should probably go with that route but a clarification: do you have a Northwood or Prescott?
 
The core doesn't really matter since it is a S478 chip the AS will be better than the Intel pad on the stock heatsink
