Increase video memory?

Okay, so without buying a new graphics card how can I increase video memory? I have had Empire total war crash on me twice saying there was not enough video memory. Is there any way to do this?
 
Are you talking about with your GTX 280? I can't see how you would be getting that message with that card. If this is for a different system, you can only increase the shared memory if you have integrated video or one of the hybrid models with turbocache or hypermemory. You wouldn't want to add shared memory to a dedicated card as it's MUCH slower.

It is with my 280! I have no idea why it is doing this. It has done it twice no, and I am only running the game on low-medium settings becasue sometimes there are like 3000-4000 little dudes on the screen all fighting each other. I dunno, time to upgrade haha I wish, but there is no way eh? hmm, oh well. Thanks for the help.
