I have an Dell dimension E521 which has 2 slots for cards but i think 1 is being used by a very ordinary graphics card (which i was planning to replace with the Nvidia 8800 GTX) and the other a sound card. Is there a way i can make more slots or do i even need the sound card? and also would someone be able to tell me more about how to upgrade the power supply and add a water cooler to the GTX (if i get one)..?

You can't make more slots, the slots that you have is ALL that you have. You must upgrade your motherboard to get more slots. Do you even know what kind of motherboard or power supply you have? If you don't even have a PCI-E slot, then upgrading to an 8800GTX is a bit difficult.

He made a thread pretty much the same as this one, I checked his specs... I think he has one PCI-E x16, one PCI-E x1, and a couple of PCI. He doesn't get that the PCI-E x16 is the only one decent for a GPU.

oh ok, i was reading* someone elses forums and some one said you can cut out the back to make more room for slots, even though i know i will have to buy some cable and upgrade the power supply.

i also have a modem plug-in, if i remove that and the sound card would that make enough room to put in a GTX with cooler or one or the other?

OK, what I'm planning on doing is to upgrade the power supply with a 470W silencer, add a 768MB Nvidia 8800 GTX, and if possible a physics accelerator. I am gonna take the tower into someone who knows what he's doing and hopfuly I can get him to extend the back add slot or whatever and the components.

I know you guys are telling me it can't be done and yeah I am confused as most of you guys said buy I'm 14, young and dumb, and I might be right to the chances of 1/50,000. But I'm gonna try.

Thanks for all the help guys...

Dell uses BTX. You won't be able to easily upgrade the power supply. And what do you mean extend it? Extend the motherboard? That's not possible.
