I'm in the market to buy a Laptop. What I need to know is what I need to look at (which brands are the best and have a good record as far as beaking)and what options I have. The Laptop will be mostly used for basic word processing, spreed sheets, some photo-shop and digital camera type stuff , playing some simple type games (IE scrabble, suduko and the like), and watching DVD's and playing CD's. I will also be using it to access the net when on vacation via a wired connection most likely. I would like at least a 15" screen, light weight and good battery life. Which processors should I look at? What are the pro's and con's between AMD and Intel Processors? I would like a min. of 1gb of ram. Is DDR2 better than the others? Also a decent hard drive. Somewhere in the neighborhood of at least 100gb. Is a SATA drive better and worth the money? Also what would be a decent graphics card? I guess the last thing is, I would like to keep it under a $1000. Any help, suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated!! THANKS

Under $1000 and capable of doing all that? My first thought is probably a Dell. Dell aren't that great on desktops, but are pretty superb when it comes to laptops. As far as reliability, Lenovo is a great brand but are on the not so cheap side of laptops. It doesn't seem like you're doing anything too powerful besides Photoshop, so you might want to look into the Pentium M. Dual Core if you can find it for under a grand with all the other specs that you need.
