Ink or Laser printer?

it all depends. What will it be used for, how much are you going to print, do you want color or b&w, what's your budget? I think that's a good start to the questions you should answer when considering

Well, I like to print coloured pictures for projects and stuff but way way back in grade 3(When pokemon was cool) me and my friend printed off all these coloured Pokemon portfolio's which wasted about 3/4 of my ink in one day. So we laid off that up(Colour cartridges) untill now. But whats different about a laser printer?

The quality in laser printers tends not to be as good. But the speed is usually much faster. The selling point in your case would be the ink. Laser printers print differently than regular printers. Laser printers use static electricity to attract ink to the page. But that isn't important....

Laser printers last a lottttt longer in general. I had a laser printer and it lasted me 4 years without having to change the ink. When I did need to however, I bought a new printer instead. Why? THE OUTRAGEOUS COST. I could have bought three brand new printers for the cost of the ink replacement. I think it was about $300 or so.

So it comes down to how rich you are I suppose. If you have the money for a laser, I'd probably go with that.

With color images, that's ususally true, but lasers will produce extremely crisp text.

Be aware that many manufacturers include 'starter cartridges' with their printers, both inkjet & laser. Basically, they're cartridges that are only half-full. If that's the case with your printer, it's worth getting the new cartridge.

And how much printing you intend to do.

what some people do is buy the cheapest printers they can find cause they come with like $60 worth of ink and they just throw them away or sell them cheap when they're done with them, I'm not one of those but yeah. And it sounds like this is going to be for home use, in which case I would say go inkjet cause laser would be quite expensive

I bet to differ there, as the quality of print is usally much sharper than a standard inkjet...espcially when you compare the speed.

Of course, if you want color, you should go with an inkjet. But just documents, or if color doesn't matter, laser.

Oh yeah, and toners tend to last FOREVER!

Ink is where the manufacturers make all their money on inkjets. They lose $ on the production/selling of them, but it costs them next to nothing to make the ink cartridges. Very expensive in the long run.
Laser printers, like said above, have crisp quality (color and black/white). The toners last a much longer time too. Non-color laser printers are good for businesses that print only in b/w. Color Laserjets, in the long run will probably cost you less than inks, IF you print a lot. Of course with colors, you have to buy a cartridge for each of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow, which can get pricey. However, HP has released some affordabl;e color LJs now, so its all up to what YOU want to do
