Input/Output setting for DVD rip

Hello there,

I would like to copy a segment from a DVD onto my harddrive. I would like the quality to be the exact same as on the DVD, but I am not sure which input/output settings I have to enter. Could someone please help me and let me know how I can do this? Thank you

Just so you know, if it is a movie that is copywrited, it is illegal and therfore against forum rules. You may be talking about ripping segments of homemade movies would is fine. Just warning you.
