i have just bought a inspiron 6000 as a little project computer, it only has 1.6ghz pentium m and 512 meg ram.

i have sat at home a mobile amd athlon QL64 X2 chip, 3 gig of ram and a 250GB sata drive that i salvaged from a dead satalite pro.

my question is would it be possible to find a motherboard that would suit the socket type of this chip aswell as the layout of the laptop.

i did a little digging and found a dell inspiron 1520 motherboard as a possible candidate, but i want to be 100% certain the board will install into the laptop before making a purchase.

thanks

I have this computer. Great computer. Upgrade the ram to 2 gigs. and then pinmod the cpu, for approximately a 30% increase in your cpu. Mine is a 1.7 cpu running at 2.26. Google it.

I love this computer. Does your cpu have sse3 do you know?

EDIT: and what chipset? Download CPU-z and it will tell you. If you could please do that, that would help me.

Back on topic since I went on a rant, you won't find many mobo's that will fit. From what I understand, the 1505 is extremely similar, I'm not sure about exact though.
