Inspiron crack

I have an Dell Inspiron 1150, and I just took notice that on the backside of the monitor right above the hinges, there is a crack  Its not the LCD, just the plastic housing. After contacting dell, they told me my warranty does not cover accidental damage and that I need to contact the out of warranty department. This is going to be quite an expensive fee for a small crack..I was wondering if there is any other possible way that this can be fixed for not so much an expensive price?

Is it at all possible to remove the parts from this laptop and put them into a desktop?

How large is the crack? Can you take a picture of it and show us?

Putting the parts in a desktop could be possible, but it wouldnt work too well.

use duct tape, or seal it with glue, or take it down to your local carpenter and get him to put something in it, there should be loads of ways to get it fixed cheap, just depends on how cheap

Here's a pic..its not the best photo quality but you can still see it. PHOTO The left side in the same exact spot is also beginning to crack, but its not as bad.

I actually thought about using glue, but I didnt think that it would word out all too well. I just dont want to spend around $200 to get it fixed

How long have you had that laptop?

By the looks of the pic it is the connecting point of the LCD to the rest of the pc. how did it break? If it break just by opening and closing the monitor than its a design flow, you should contect dell and have it fixed for free. It all depands on how long you had it.

I've had it for about a year and half now. I dont travel with it, nor do I move it from the desk its placed on, so the only other option would be by closing and opening it. I contacted dell, and they said that it's not covered under my warranty, that its considered "accidental damage"
