Inspiron1545 Boot up problems

I have a DELL inspiron 1545 which originally came with Vista OS

I recently upgraded it to Windows 7 and since then it would sometimes not boot up.

It has come to a point now where it rarely boots up.

I go to switch it on and the blue light comes on, I hear the fan briefly and the harddrive then it goes all quiet.

The machine is on thou as I can eject the CD

I have tried taking the memory out one at a time with the cover off it made no difference

Any ideas please?

I bet you have some stuff plugged into the computer right? I would unplug all USB and similar unnecessary devices. I have a DVD drive that will prevent my computer from booting. I have to unplug it from the computer to boot, then plug it back in when I am ready to use it and computer has booted.
