sounds great!
But......
i have looked every where and i just dont know how to start.is it as simple as physicly taking out my stinky celeron cpu and replacing it then i reboot, it works or do i need to up grade the bios? The motherboard is a gigebyte ga-81g1000 pro and it has a big sticker saying "prescot ready" intel 865 chipset, so all should be well? please i bow low to ur mighty computer wisdom.

thanks

How do you have a Celeron in there if it says Prescott Ready? All the Celerons I saw were socket 478, and all the prescotts I saw were socket 775.....I could be wrong. What socket is your mobo?

As long as its a Socket478 prescott you'll be fine ... of course you should prolly hunt down a Northwood if you want to use the 478 board.

Arr the Bios......

from the sites iv seen i will have to up date the bios ANd i have SP2 xp which it turns out will kill my computer!
Really i am asking will i be able to urn the computer off take out the celeron and replace it with the p4 prescott (ill up date the bios 4 the motherboard 1st but that scares the c**p out of me)???

yes definately re-install the operating system after a new cpu is installed, it just runs better...dunno why but i had to do it when i swaped cpu's
It runs faster because the appropriate drivers for the CPU and chipset are registered to the OS.
