Install only OS on raid ssd setup

Hi everyone. I'm new here and I'm looking for a little help. I just bought some new hard drives for my desktop and I'm looking to wipe all the old data off the old drives and install eveything onto a new raid setup with the new drives. I mainly play videogames but I'm also into drafting and some video editing.

I had used a program to copy windows from my old hdd to the first ssd but it copied everything and a bunch of stuff I didn't want or need. I have almost no use for any of the windows garbage besides maybe the media player.

Is there a way to copy the OS (Windows 8.1) to both SSDs and either delete the unwanted stuff or install them on the HDDs out of the way so they won't take up space. Also the desktop had no windows installer CD. It's been a while since I've even messed with installing with an OS so I don't know if this is a common thing to do or not.

To sum it all up I have the OS on one SSD that's copied from a HDD which still has the OS but it isn't being used to boot windows. I just want it to copy the OS only onto two raided SSDs for speed. No unnecessary program files. Just windows and some games.

Thanks for any help and hopefully this isn't too confusing.

If you want to use raid then you need to go into the bios enable raid, enter the raid utility and setup what raid array you want and then install windows. All programs would have to be reinstalled if you don't want to clone the old hard drive to the new raid setup. To get best performance from SSD's you should reinstall windows fresh anyway. Do you want raid 1 or raid 0?

Raid 0. My issue with a fresh install is I have no disc to use for an install unless I can create one which I didn't see as an option. I just got back from a 7 month deployment so I'm still not familiar with my desktop.

Is this a store bought computer or a custom build? All store bought pc's have the option to create recovery cd's so you can reinstall windows if the hard drive crashes. You can use these recovery cd's to reinstall windows on your raided SSD's. Usually store bought pc's don't have a raid option. Even if this a custom build pc you can download the iso for 8.1 and install providing you have the activation key.

I'll have to look and see if i have a key. It's from a gaming pc website but I installed some of the aftermarket stuff.

Edit: I did manage to find a Windows 8 disc. Going to try to swap out the new parts and install tomorrow. Have the drives and another power supply going in. Hopefully it's fairly easy and I have all the parts I need.

Thanks for the help.
