I dont know alot about the internal working of programs so maybe someone can help me with this. I have to use this program at school for one of my classes but i dont have time to get in the lab cause i work. so i put the program file on a flash drive and copied them to my computer. but, as i suspeced, it just put the files on the computer. it isnt a real program. does anyone know how i can get the program from school to work on my home computer?

also, the program is said to be availble online for a download but it seems to have been discontinued for trial use.

thanks

There may be a newer shareware version available you can download for what program?

Besides simply copying the files off of the hard drive most any program requires an installer to create the folders you copied the files from along with new entries created in the system registry and installation logs. Knowing the name and type of program would be needed here in order to locate the main site for any download or ordering the full retail version.

its called ProEngineer wildfire 4.0

im sure its a complicated process but i need it for my class. is there an installer that would straighten this up?

i saw those earlier and tried to use them. i cant seem to actually get to a place to download 4.0. it says its available but never seems to show me anything to download

You ran into the same thing apparently. Primarily that's a software marketed to schools were there might be another site for those with pre-existing accounts to log in and shop as well as download the extras as part of customer support. CAD programs fall into the engineering and educational catagory rather then the general software market.

Registration is one thing that seems to be the first step for using the site there with the tour form seen at http://www.ptc.com/appserver/wcms/forms/index.jsp?im_dbkey=64184&icg_dbkey=482 I suggest talking with your professor/instructor/teacher about how to go about this since the school is already a client.

Hopefully the staff will help you out there since that's part of the course. There are other CAD programs available while that is one you have to work with while in school there.
