Install windows a second time?

Hey, been posting a lot recently but I appreciate all your help.

One question, can you install windows 7 more than once on a computer before you activate it?

I.e. Can you install it, re format the hard drive then install it again without any problem before activating it online?

Thanks

When 7 first came out I installed one copy on 6 different PCs of different Hardware configurations, to see how 7 worked on old XP Hardware. The Computers had no internet access so I could not activate any of them.

Ah right that's interesting, I just wanted to know as I wanted to make sure I did as little as possible to the system before creating a restore image using Acronis.

Another little question... Once windows is activated, if my restore option doesn't work, would I be able to reformat the HDD and reinstall windows again, AND then activate it again without any trouble?

Heard that you can do this on the same system over and over but just wanted to double check...

Yes you can reinstall and use the same Product Key. If it happened really often then MS can refuse to activate if they suspect misuse. That generally will bring up a situation where you need to activate with a phone call.

Thats great, all the info I need.

Just wanted to know for a sense of security seeing as it costs over £100! Glad you can do that though as I'm not so convinced my Acronis is so secure. Had an old version years ago and it was great so it got me buying the (almost) latest version, but it seems so much more difficult than it used to be for some reason.

At least now I know I can resort back to a full install if worst comes to worst.

Thanks again
