i had to reinstall windows wp on my dell latitude 110L and while i was trying to finish set up there was an admin password. i shut down laptop and hit F2, went to security settings and added passwords and then removed them. i hit esc and went back to set up and there was still an admin password. how do i remove this password all together so i can continue the setup?

also i am looking for parental control settings to where i can lock the computer when it comes to questionable websites.

any feedback would help.

this is an URGENT matter, thanks.

Perhaps its late and I don't quite understand this....
While you were re-installing your XP on the laptop, towards the end of the installation you were asked for an administrative password?

Was it at THIS moment that you shutdown the computer? I understand that you pressed F2 (BIOS settings) and went into the security settings to add/then delete the admin password, you actually only changed the admin password to get INTO the BIOS settings, which has nothing to do with the OS.

Now, back to the install. When you rebooted the computer, it immediately came back to the administrative password question? It sounds like it wants you to ENTER a password to assign to the administrator account, not that it is challenging you for authentication.

As for the parental block, any good parental control software would work for you. I have recommended this for my clients and it seems to work just fine:

Good luck, keep me posted on your installation progress.
