Installed more RAM - now problems?

I just bought a Sony Vaio TX650P/B:

It came with 512MB DDR2 PC3200 (400MHz) So-DIMM RAM.

I bought a 1GB stick of ram from newegg:

And this my problem: After installing the memory, it takes forever for windows to start up. The screen stays on a blank screen with just the background for about 3-4 minutes, then finally starts up. Did I buy the wrong kind of RAM? If I did.. can someone recommend the right type?

If it was the wrong type of ram, it shouldnt work atall. I can only think that you have put it in the wrong slot. If you have two memory slots, try swapping them over so that the higher 1GB module is in the 1st slot and the lower in the 2nd.

Also try running msconfig and see if there is anything wrong in there.
