ISP is putting a 250GB bandwidth cap and was looking for a program that would monitor my usage to see what I do use. Decided on NetWorx and installed it on my computer(eMachine-Windows 7)with no problem. Makes it real simple to follow my daily usage.
Yesterday was the full first day and said my usage was 1.5GB. Installed the same program on my wifes HP 2000(Windows 8) laptop. Again the installation went smooth. I then decided to do a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. It took 2hrs and 40 min to do a complete scan and the end result was it found 1148 items. They were worded Category- "PUP.Optional.s..File and Item-Smartbar\co
I checked off everyone of them and had them deleted. I did a restart and to my surprise the NetWorx program that I installed was completely gone. It does not show up anywhere. Now what is the PUP.Optional-Smartbar item anyway? Is the reason I got over 1000 of these strictly because of the NetWorx download? And why would the NetWorx program be deleted? Many thanks for your help!
