Installed Win 7 on HP Pavillion dv9500 - Mute button light not working

I installed Windows 7 on my HP Pavillion dv9500 which came with Vista preinstalled. Everything is working fine, except the mute button. It does indeed mute the sound, but before it would turn orange when muted. It doesn't do that anymore, just blue all the time - which means you can't see if the sound is on or off unless you look at the task bar.
I tried installing a Quick Launch driver, but I'm not at all sure if it was the right one. Another driver I tried wouldn't install.

Any tips on making it work?
 
Did you get the free upgrade kit through HP? I did when I got my Compaq cq50 laptop and It came with a BIOS update. That could be your problem, that your BIOS needs an update for Windows 7, but I would wait for more advice before updating your BIOS.
 
go to www.hp.com

look up your specific model # (located near the battery bay) find the EXACT model number on their website... look for drivers for win 7... don't just install random drivers lol probably make it worse...

plz note that not all hp laptops will have updated drivers for win 7... my hp9800 did not... so be sure you are looking at the correct model #
 
Go on the hp site and to support and drivers, put the exact model in and make sure you download all the drivers and make sure there are no devices in device manager with an exclamation point on them.
