installing a new modem is very interesting topic to discuss. In the market there are lots of brand for Modem. if you want to install modem then follow the below steps.

1. Unpack the modem and its accessories.
2. Turn off the computer and any attached devices.
3. Attach one end of the modem cable to the serial port on the computer and the other end to the modem.
4. Connect one end of the phone cord to the modem port marked "wall" or "line" and the other end to the wall jack of your phone line
5. Attach the power adapter plug to the modem and the power transformer plug to the power outlet, if this is required for your modem.
6. Turn on the computer and the modem, if it has an on/off switch.
7. When your computer starts up, follow the software installation instructions if prompted by your computer system

So you have to use dial up internet? It's not hard at all to replace an existing modem. Just remove one screw and remove the existing card, then insert the new card, reattach the screw, boot the computer up and use the cd that came with the modem to install the driver for it.
