You first look for a small mark seen on one corner of the cpu and match that for the one way fit. It should drop right down and no effort should be required when lowering the lever down inplace. If you somehow turned it when dropping the cpu in the slot it will be raised up slightly. Make sure none of the pins on the cpu are bent.
