Installing directx 9.0c

Hey. I've got this problem installing the directx version 9.0c. My current directx version is 8.1.
I've download dx v9.0c already but when i click "DXSETUP.exe, it runs and it just finishes in few seconds. And when i check back the dx diagnostic, its still 8.1
any idea how to fix this?

Once you see the accept after unpacking all files that quickly copies the updated drivers into the system32 folder. Before they can take effect and load you have to restart the system. If you haven't done that since running the setup file was used they won't be loaded and active.

Are you downloading the latest version from here?

Not everyone is running XP. Many still run ME believe or not or even more so run 2000. Some still run 98! Or perhaps XP was simply reinstalled and that doesn't come with 9c there.

Or this guy is young and has just started to play games

Many simply don't even know that Direct X is/was a separate item to download when wanting a newer release upto 9c. Windows went on or was on and they simply run a system the way it is until they at least learn what an update is.
