Installing external USB Keyboard for Laptop

I've gotten sick of using my laptop keyboard and decided to pick up a nice, cheap external keyboard. I chucked the CD in and installed the drivers and restarted my laptop. However the external keyboard refuses to work and when I double click "Keyboard" in Control Panel the external one doesn't show up in the list, only the laptop keyboard. Any suggestions?
 
Ignore. Problem solved. Stupid me was putting the wrong plug in the wrong hole. Shows that even the best of us can make stupid mistakes.
