Installing New OS, but which?

I'm gonna switch to Linux, tired of Xp screwing up everything, but I'm not exactly sure what to go with. Some people told me Ubuntu or Suse were good places to start, but a friend of mine told me to go with Fedora Core 4, as it was more powerful than either of those. I'm not quite sure what to do. I really respect the friend, so I'm inclined to go Fedora. Anyone have any reason why I shouldn't?

I run Knoppix, But I will still stay with XP pro. I don't seem to have the problems I see posted here most of the time.

I am gonna have windows too, for games. If you actually like windows, I pity you.

Pity me all you want! I am happy with it! I rarely use Knoppix! I have no REAL issues with XP pro, It works great for me. I don't visit sites that poison the OS, if I have an issue (rarely) I have it fixed in vary short order. So if you want to knock windows just remember you are in the minority of OS users!

Majority doesn't mean good. Many, many industry standards are complete crap. Majority rule just means you're good at marketing.

This is not a Windows Vs. Linux thread.

I asked about Fedora and Ubuntu. If you have nothing to say about either, keep your thoughts to yourself.

Fedora Core isn't the easiest distro for a newbie.
I use Ubuntu and would recommend it. It is a lot easier than Fedora (I tried that first, bad idea).

If you actually like windows, I pity you.
We'll keep the Anti-M$ comments to the Linux community, they can take it! :D

My vote goes for ubutu. I have used Ub utu, (new and old) and PC linux os, and slack. Out of those three at least ubutu is better, i havn't tried any others.
